Sleep Apnea Surgery (Cont.)

Sleep Apnea Surgery: Tracheostomy
Tracheostomy is a surgery used for severe sleep apnea. During this surgery, a small hole is made in the windpipe and a tube is inserted. Air will flow through the tube and into the lungs. This surgery is very successful but is used only in patients not responding to all other possible sleep apnea treatments.

Other types of sleep apnea surgery can include:

  • Surgery to rebuild the lower jaw
  • Surgery of the nose
  • Surgery to treat obesity.
