Sleep Apnea Surgery

Tracheostomy
Tracheostomy is a surgery used for severe sleep apnea. During this surgery, a small hole is made in the windpipe and a tube is inserted. Air will flow through the tube and into the lungs. This surgery is quite successful, but is used only in people who do not respond to all other possible sleep apnea treatments.

Other types of sleep apnea surgery can include procedures to:

  • Rebuild the lower jaw
  • Modify the nose
  • Treat obesity.
