Armodafinil for Narcolepsy

One of the most common conditions armodafinil (Nuvigil™) is used for is narcolepsy. It is also prescribed to people with sleep apnea and shift work sleep disorder (SWSD). Researchers are not quite sure how the drug works to promote wakefulness in people with these conditions, since it is not a stimulant.

Keep in mind that when treating narcolepsy with armodafinil, you likely will still have symptoms -- they just won't be as severe. This medication is not a cure, and it will not work if you stop taking it or take it differently than how your healthcare provider recommends.
